Greg NormanSo the Big Show has moved to Houston this week where the wind caused absolute  havoc early on with gusts up to 55mph causing play to be abandoned mid way through the first round. The field is about as good as they get for a tournament outside a major, with eight of the world’s top ten swinging the sticks.

The Shark is one of the men using the Shell Open as an opportunity to fine tune their game before Augusta next week and was solid on both of the first two days, shooting 71, 69 to be 4 shots off the pace.

Shark Now A Taylormade Man

Much of the news in the past week or so has been the move by Norman to Taylormade, and he will be hoping that the new R9 driver can give him as much as extra distance as possible to combat an Augusta course that has been appreciably lengthened since his last visit.

As well as the new driver, he will be playing the TP irons, with the only clubs left in the bag from previous sets being his 3 wood and sand wedge.

All About The Family

The coming week at August is being made into an all family affair for Norman. new wife Chris Evert will experience the Augusta crowd for the first time and son Gregory will be on the bag helping steer his father around the course.

Norman Jr remembers plenty from his years of coming and supporting his father from the sidelines and is excited about carrying the bag for his father at the Masters, and to prepare has been caddying for his The Shark since graduating from college in December

“I know I’ll be nervous,” Gregory said. “But I will just try my hardest to be there for him and do my best job so he can do his best job.”

Much of Norman’s recent resurgence can be attributed to his son getting more involved in golf, having left the game for a few years after high school.

They have been playing and training together regularly which has revived Norman’s interest and seen him play more tournaments of late.
